Crafted With Heritage

Hopping Frog Pens was founded by Wayne, a Royal Navy veteran with over 15 years of service. His workshop brings together discipline, precision, and a deep respect for Britain’s maritime and aviation history.

What began as a personal craft evolved into a way of preserving the past. Rare timbers from iconic ships, aircraft, and historic buildings are transformed into individually made writing instruments — each one shaped by hand, each one carrying a story.

This is heritage, refined through craftsmanship

Authentic Historic Timbers

Every piece begins with a material that has lived a life of its own.
We work exclusively with trusted salvage specialists who recover genuine timbers from:
  • Royal Navy warships
  • WWII aircraft
  • Historic buildings and restoration projects

Each timber is certified, responsibly sourced, and rich with character.
No two pieces are ever the same — the grain, the colour, the marks of age all tell their own story.

These are fragments of history, crafted to be held, used, and passed on.

Handcrafted to Order

Every pen and keyring is individually made in our Cheshire workshop.
There is no production line, no bulk manufacturing — each piece is crafted one at a time, with care and precision.

The process begins with selecting the right piece of timber, preparing it, and turning it by hand. The metal components are fitted with accuracy, the finish is polished to a deep sheen, and every item is checked thoroughly before it leaves the workshop.

This approach takes time, but it ensures each piece is unique, personal, and made to the highest standard.
