Choose pens that are made using locally sourced woods, or from the more interesting exotic species, such as padauk, purpleheart or zebrano. 
We can make cast resin pens in custom colours, or with labels/photos, or even ​holographic sparkles, and wooden hearts!
However, the most perfect and unique handmade pens we create can be found in the 'Historic Pens' section.
Here you will find pens made from woods taken from historic buildings, film sets and whisky barrels, but our most popular pens (and our personal favourites) are made using timber from historic warships and aircraft, such as HMS Victory and the RAF Spitfire. 
We have worked tirelessly over the years to find reputable suppliers of the finest components and materials, and are now one of the very few pen makers in the UK who specialise in historic pens.

Bespoke Pens

We are excited to announce a new venture for Hopping Frog Pens - fully handmade pens: all are cut, threaded, shaped and polished by hand. The only parts we don't make are the nibs - our pens are designed around the Bock size 6 nibs. These come in a multitude of options, including tip sizes from extra fine to broad, and all are available in different finishes, such as red or purple lacquered, and even 14 & 18k solid gold.
With such customisation, these pens are guaranteed 100% bespoke!

Wooden Heart Pens

Designed and created by hand at the Hopping Frog workshop, these beautiful pens are sure to add romance to any moment.

With 60 coloured wooden hearts set within a white pearlescent resin, they epitomise the gesture of love perfectly and make the most wonderful gift for a loved one.

From Historic Warships to Handmade Unique Pens

HMS Victory

Launched on 7th May 1765, HMS Victory is the oldest commissioned warship in the world.

HMS Warspite

HMS Warspite entered service on 8th March 1915 and on the 1st January 1945, after good and loyal service, She was placed in reserve.

HMS Warrior

HMS Warrior was built for the Royal Navy in 1859 - 1861 and was the name ship of the Warrior-class Ironclads.
Normally only available in small quantities, these handcrafted pens use authenticated timbers salvaged from old wrecks, refurbished museum pieces and decommissioned warships. They make perfect and unique gifts and are steeped in Naval history.

Our pens are much more than just ordinary pens: they are expertly crafted by hand, using premium woods and quality resins, and are as individual as you are.

Presentation

All handcrafted pens are supplied in one of our branded black card presentation boxes.
Not only do they keep your pen safe when not in use but they are perfect when giving a pen as a gift.
All pens from our Unique range also come with a certificate of authenticity.

Packaging

Our pens leave us in the best possible condition, which is exactly how we would like our customers to receive them. 
To ensure this happens we use generous amounts of natural filling contained within a tough cardboard box. All kind to the planet and completely recyclable.
Did you know....
The filler we use is 100% bio-degradable, but rather than recycling, they make great natural firelighters!

We cast our own resin!

All resins used in our handmade pens are cast right here at the Hopping Frog Pens workshop.

We use the highest quality epoxy resins available and can create any number of colour combinations. We can even make resin pens to order. If you have a favourite colour, or colours, please get in touch today to discuss your requirement.
There is no additional cost for this service.

The finest home-grown timber

We use one of Staffordshire's finest timber suppliers for all our native species handcrafted pens: Shelmore Timber.
The majority of the timber supplied is grown and milled on their estate in Staffordshire, and they take great efforts to produce quality (and more importantly) sustainable timber. Their ethos is one that HF Pens wholly agrees with, which was endorsed in 2014 when they received a Royal Forestry Society, Woodlands for Climate Change Award.
Well on their way to planting 1 million trees, Shelmore Timbers have set the bar high and are delivering the highest quality timbers with little to no impact on the environment, both locally and worldwide.
