Materials used to craft this pen:
This handcrafted pen contains a genuine piece of a propellor from a Lancaster that flew during the Second World War.
The MkII Lancaster entered service in October 1942 following delays in production after the Armstrong Whitworth factory was bombed in June of that year. The updates of the MkII Lancaster included stronger Bristol Hercules engines, bulged bomb bays and a ventral turret. It had been outfitted to transport 12000 lb light-case bombs as well as the 22000 lb Earthquake bombs.
The planes of 617 squadron had been outfitted to spin and launch the Bouncing Bomb, developed by Barnes Wallis to attack German dams during Operation Chastise in May 1943. This earned the squadron the name: The Dam Busters.
