HMS Queen Elizabeth (1914) — Teak Pen
A Piece of Dreadnought-Era History, Crafted for Today
This handcrafted pen is made from authentic teak recovered from HMS Queen Elizabeth, the revolutionary battleship launched in 1913 and commissioned in 1915. The timber carries the character of a ship that reshaped naval warfare and served through two world wars. Holding it is like carrying a preserved fragment of naval engineering history.
The Story of HMS Queen Elizabeth (1914)
HMS Queen Elizabeth was the lead ship of her class — the first fast battleships ever built, and among the most powerful warships of their time. Armed with eight 15‑inch guns and capable of unprecedented speed for a battleship, she set a new standard for naval design.
During the First World War, she served as flagship of the Grand Fleet, though undergoing refit during the Battle of Jutland. In the Second World War, she fought in the Mediterranean, survived mine damage, and continued to serve with distinction across multiple theatres.
Her teak decking, exposed to decades of salt air, sunlight, and wartime service, was removed during restoration and refit work. This historic timber has now been transformed into a limited number of handcrafted pens — each one a tribute to a ship that defined an era.
