de Havilland Tiger Moth — Historic Timber Pen

A Piece of Aviation Heritage, Crafted for Today
This handcrafted pen is made from authentic timber recovered from a de Havilland Tiger Moth, the iconic biplane that trained thousands of pilots before and during the Second World War. The material carries the warmth and character of an aircraft that shaped aviation history. Holding it is like carrying a preserved fragment of the golden age of flight.

The Story of the Tiger Moth
First flown in 1931, the de Havilland Tiger Moth became one of the most important training aircraft ever built. Light, responsive, and beautifully simple, it introduced generations of pilots to the fundamentals of flight. During the Second World War, it served as the primary trainer for the RAF and Commonwealth air forces, preparing pilots for Hurricanes, Spitfires, and beyond.

After the war, Tiger Moths continued to fly in civilian roles — from crop‑dusting to aerobatics — and many remain airworthy today. During restoration and maintenance work, sections of original timber were removed. This historic material has now been transformed into a limited number of handcrafted pens, each one a tribute to the aircraft and the pilots who learned to fly in her open cockpit.

Craftsmanship & Finish
Every pen is individually hand‑turned on the lathe, shaped to highlight the natural grain and character of the historic timber.
It is then finished with:
  • Eight coats of lacquer
  • A burnished layer of carnauba wax
  • A smooth, durable sheen designed to last
Each pen is assembled, polished, and inspected by hand to ensure a premium writing experience.
