The Patriot fountain, in whisky-oak and brushed stainless steel
What better way to not only compliment the British made stainless steel hardware but to celebrate and support Britain than with a pen made from a stave used by the English Whisky Company!
Available as both a fountain pen and rollerball in:
- Brushed stainless steel
- Polished stainless steel
The pen barrel of this Whiskey Patriot is made from oak which was once a stave of a barrel used by The English Whisky Company. The smell of whisky remains quite pungent, and one sniff will have you reaching for the bottle!
The pen barrel is shaped slightly convex, with its maximum diameter toward the rear of the pen. This not only makes it more comfortable to hold, but gives it a nice balance that really allows the pen to flow effortlessly whilst in use.
The wood is finished with a beeswax/shellac polish, which leaves a smooth and silky finish yet still allows the user to feel the grain beneath their fingers. Why hide the main character of this pen beneath layers of lacquer?
A real benefit of this finishing method is that the oak, a natural product, will continue to react to its surroundings and will move. These movements are microscopic and not noticeable, but because the finish is flexible it will move with the pen and therefore won't crack.
