Truly BESPOKE pens..

...completely handmade.

It is always exciting when something new comes along, and I find it very difficult not to say anything. So with that being said I am very proud to announce that we are entering the world of pen making in its truest form! From the drawing board to the writing board: we will be designing and making our very own fountain pens. The only parts we don't make are the nibs, and these will be Bock size 6 nibs.

We have been 'back to the drawing board' many times over the last few weeks as we try different ideas and styles to create a unique design that can one day be recognised as a 'Hopping Frog' pen. (We have now built up quite a collection of fountain pen parts....some usable, some not so!)
​A lot of the materials we'll be using will be our own in-house resin designs, but we will also be using a selection of third party materials. An area we will be delving into is fully wooden pens. Wood is very brittle and is extremely difficult to cut a strong thread into and therefore isn't the makers choice when it comes to designing a new pen. Over prolonged use there is a danger the threads could weaken or break, resulting in a pen that cannot be used. There are techniques that can be employed to strengthen the wood - watch this space!
